Quranic Ayat

Post by samirziz »

I was not sure where to post this but forgive me if i posted it in the wrong section of this forum.

I was listening to a waez on a tape a few weeks ago, and the missionary was talking about happiness. He refered to the Quran quite a few times to support his ideas. There was one particular ayat he refered to,

The Quran says in english it means that which you think is bad for you may actually be good for you and that which you love and want may be bad for you, Allah knows, you dont know.. If anyone has read the Quran and has some idea about this.. Please assist me.

Thanks and Ya Ali Madad

Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

Sura Al-Baqara (The Cow) Ayat 216: By Abdullah Yusuf Ali

There are 2 types of fightings (jihad) 1. fighting with enemies of Islam and 2. fighting with evils (jihad bin nafs). I don't know which jihad you were listening and referring to, but the second one is very close to our faith.

There is also a hadith on this issue which states:

"Paradise is encompassed with things disliked, and hell with things desired".
