First mobile application in Kyrgyz language on reading books developed

Bishkek (AKIpress) - The Aga Khan Foundation assisted to develop the first android mobile application in Kyrgyz language on reading books, according to a meeting of Deputy Minister of Education and Science Toktobubu Ashimbayeva with Executive Director of the Aga Khan Foundation in Kyrgyzstan Karl Goeppert.
It was a working meeting of the National Committee on Reading under the Ministry of Education and Science to study new initiatives making the reading fun through android mobile application on story books, TV programs with the participation of children and parents to promote family reading.
The mobile application was developed on 10 titles of story books in Kyrgyz language. These mobile applications are expected to increase children's interest in reading through interactive exercises. Thus, children will have the opportunity to make reading fun by doing each task.
Access to applications is possible via the Internet, and in parent resource centers, the program is collaborating with.
“It is well known that books play an important role in the child’s life and development, as they develop intelligence, critical thinking and ability to recognize the contradictions. The reading child has a good memory, creative imagination, has a clear set of thoughts and communicable, as well as more independent in judgment and actions. Parents play a crucial role in the reading process,” noted Karl Goeppert.
Participants of the meeting also familiarized with a Reading Achievement study in schools in Naryn and Osh regions and the annual work plan of the National Children's Library.
