Destiny and freewill

Post by samirziz »

Do we as ismaili's believe that we have a choice, or do we believe that choice has already been made for us. Sometimes in our lives we make some decisions that cause us much pain and grief and sorrow, was that written for us?

Thanks

YA ALI MADAD
How are you

Well, as Shia & partially as Ismaili we believe that Allah has shown us path, & we are free to choose any path & on that bases we will be Rewarded or Punished.

What we believe which are written are :

When we will be Born
Where will be born
The Family we will be born
& the day of Death.

YUSUFALI: He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;-
PICKTHAL: Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,
SHAKIR: Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,

YUSUFALI: And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
PICKTHAL: And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.
SHAKIR: Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it;

YUSUFALI: Truly he succeeds that purifies it,
PICKTHAL: He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow,
SHAKIR: He will indeed be successful who purifies it,

YUSUFALI: We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will).
PICKTHAL: Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving.
SHAKIR: Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.

Sunnies believe that every thing has been written or they may say that “WE DO these acts (good or bad) which are already been written before we were born.

Here a reference : - narrated by hazrat Abu baker, he was once asked that if we commit adulterer is this by Allah’s order, he (Abu Baker) said YES.
Then he asked “if every thing happen because the Will of Allah, then Why I’ll be Punished”
Abu Baker get offended & he said “if I had someone here with me I would order him to torchar you.” (ref:- Threef e Khulfa by Sayuti pg 98 [urdu])
