Why is it that women don't take part in the funeral ceremonies at the time of the funeral or even in khana afterwards.
I am the only child and am a girl, and when my father passes away, I want to be able to stand up and do all the ceremonies, would this be allowed with all our orthodox ways.
I once asked a missionary this, and he said blankly that it is forbidden, and an uncle, my son or my husband would represent me, and I think that is totally unfair as I am the true child of the parent in question and should stand as his representative, not anyone else.
Why is it that the sex of an individual is so important, not the importance of the individual.
Our faith goes with the times, but our community still lives and performs as if in the dark ages. The Imam of the time tells us to grow, not fall back. I wish our jamati leaders would do so.
