Qayamat!

Post by mehboobmehdi »

Yam!

I wanted your views on Qayamat! what do you think qayamat is? Also if anyone can tell the ismaili interpretation of the quranic ayats on qayamat. And has this topic discussed before on this forum? i searched the forum and couldnt find anything on this topic.

I'm personally very confused on this topic. Because since childhood we have been hearing that everting will be destroyed, mountains will fly like cottons etc and then Allah will form His court everyone then will be judged and will go to heaven and hell accordingly. Also when a person dies his soul goes into alam-buzurk i hope im naming it rite however its a temporary place where all the souls will stay until qayamat arrives. Now this all i have read in my islamiat books since childhood. So what is the ismaili view on qayamat?

Also, i have heard that Pir Nasir khusraw concept is that Imam natiq comes and establishes qayam thts qayamat and the 49th imam will establish a big one (7x7) and qayamat means change so if we look at the works of our present imam He really has brought a big change!!

so can anyone elaborate on this? and also can anyone tell me abt the imam asas and natiq, as i dnt know much abt it :S

hope to hear also ur personal views on qayamat! hope to hear th replies soon! :)

Regarding Asas and Natiq, I would strongly recommend that you read Paul Walker's book "Abu Yakub Al-Sijistani: Intellectual Missionary". In it the author presents the cosmological doctrine of Al-Sijistani, a 10th century ismaili whose writings had a great influence on 1) the establishment of the Fatimid Caliphate in North Africa in 909CE and 2)Pir Nasir Khusraw himself. You can buy this book on Amazon.com.

Asas and Natiq are described as 2 of the 4 wellsprings of knowledge available to human beings in their quest for Divine Knowledge. Asas means 'Founder' and, in the Islamic era, refers to Hazrat Ali and his descendants. Natiq means 'Speaking Prophet' and refers to Prophet Mohammed in the Islamic era. It is a special category of Prophet, one who brings a new legislation or law and only 6 of these have existed in history: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed.

One ayat relating to Qiyamat is "One day we will fold up creation like the pages of a book". Another ayat describes creation itself looking at the pages of an open book. There are many metaphors in the Quran as well as direct guidance from the Hadith and Firmans that use the theme of learning, reading, education and the search for knowledge. My personal view is that God advises us to learn about the creation while it is still in existence before He folds it up like closing up the pages of a book.

This brings me to the 3rd and 4th wellsprings of knowledge suggested by Al-Sijistani. He was influenced by a Greek philosophical system called Neoplatonism, which had come down to Islam from the Greeks via the Byzantine empire. He felt that this system would help him expalin the 3rd and 4th of his ideas about wellsprings of knowledge. These were called Universal Soul and Universal Intellect. In Al-Sijistani's cosmological doctrine the Universal Soul composes the universe that we live in much like the Natiq composes the ayats of the Quran. Both of them recieve inspiration from the Universal Intellect to do this. Likewise the Asas recieves inspiration from the Universal Intellect to carry out his function of interpretation of the scripture for believers. Hence, my view is that learning about the universe is part of one of the wellsprings of knowledge and is in keeping with the learning metaphors described above.

Regarding the first part of your question about what exactly happens on the day of Qiyamat, I would have to defer to someone more knowledgable than me on this subject. My impression is that the Ismaili view would tend to pay more attention to the esoteric, rather than the exoteric dimension of the phenomenon.

By qayamat if you refer to end of this world or time near to the end of world..its details are in Ginans and hadiths too. Every thing that has created has an end too. The time period of yougs and end of this world etc is mentioned in Ginans. This topic is discussed and there is related topic to it i.e, Daet Kalingo..you may get to know more on this from this topic too..

Well yes ofcourse everything that has a begining has an end. So that means k the end of the world is the qayamat for this world, my death is qayamat for me like Prophet Mohd said:

" jo mar gaya us ki qayamat barpa hogayi "

but then wht abt the hisab kitab thing?? will that happen after my death or will that happen in some future time as mentioned in the quran that the Lord will establish his great court and everyone will be judged accoring to their deeds and the sinfull will regret on tht day!

nashvelshi thanx for the refernce of asas and natiq thing i will look into it :)

and star_munir can u plz tell me the name of the topic :S i cant find anytopic regarding qayamat. 10x again!

Remember - time is relative. The concept of "time" is a human way of describing the movements of the planets around the sun. As for what will happen after a person dies, I do not know. Please let me know what happens after you die :D . Personally, I think qayamat for me is the point where I will be judged for what I have done in my lifetime, which will be right after I died. Or, it can be that I am being judged right now, and will be reincarnated right after I day if I do not understand the "truth". The way I look at it, the only way to find out is to wait till it is your turn to die. I wish I could have a meeting with the Imam and just ask him all these questions....

As you asked about hisab kitab of the soul..Here you may find different views of different members because some believes in physical reincarnation and some not..Its obvious if one believes in physical reincarnation then after one's death there will be judgement for him/her so thats depend what you belive will happen after death..There are several topics in this doctrine section of life after death or reincarnation..You may read topics like reincarnation then you will get different view points from Islamic and Ismaili point of view and then its upto you, to whom you agree..
If you are interested to know about Qayamat of this world..i.e, the day this world or our planet will come to an end..then recently there is topic Daeit in doctrine section in which I had shared what I know about time period of this world, the ages of yugs and the time when this world will come to an end..Though the views of K-Maherali are different on it and I respect his views. He may be right but the idea that we are in Kaljoog and after Kaljug there will be end of this world is most generally accepted by most of people who belive in theory of yugs be they ismailis or hindus.

There are several topics like you know there are many signs related to Qayamat..one of them is Dajjal which as per Ginan is Daet Kalingo..You may know about more on topics related to it few examples from topics related on this subjest in doctrines section are : Daiet , Life after death or spiritual life ?, where a bad person go after death in ismailism,
Daet Kalingo and Dajjal etc

I have heared about a story of a murid....
who awoke when his dead body was being washed (part of ismaili rasam).people got afraid and ran away.
after some days mishnaris tried to connect him but he rejected to commmunicate.
after many years he invited mishnaris to his home, and narrated whole event he saw.
he said that he opened his eyes when he dead and saw 2 people taking him somewhere, he said he couldn't do any thing he was just walking with them, the two guys were so beautiful , those people left him on a big gate, that gate opened gradually, then he saw MHI calling him inside,he came in.(he told the whole story to mishnaris afterwards)<I have heared about it from my uncle>

i would like to know about what you guys have view about that with the advent of Qaim ul Qyama in the seventh day(the day of sabath or the Great day of ressuraction, will this world come to an end or not?

with the advent of Qaim al Qyama the universal soul attains perfection and raises at the level of universal intellect.so i myself think that this universe will come to an end.

this is my understanding;what you guys say about that?
