It is rare to see 2 people giving the same meaning to these concepts, beside the fact that one of the word you are using is in English and the other in Arabic.

To simplify, there are 5 levels: One is the body which is of no use after death, it can be trown to dogs but during the lifetime, it is very precious as it host the conscious/intuition and the intellect which bridges the body with the soul and as it host the Souls and the Spirit.

In my vocabulary, I call soul the entity which is spiritual and which is bound to progress through good deeds and good intentions or regress through bad deeds and bad intentions.

I call Spirit [Ruh], that part of the Light that God has given to each of us to guide the soul. The Spirit is not bound by our intention and action, it never regress or progress, it is a part of the Light that guides the soul towards its salvation.

An interesting ginan about this process is "Prem Patan Raja Man Soudh" where a person sits in Bandgi [Radiyade Rani] , is about to fail because of wordly bonds but has been given a lift by the Spirit [Raja Mansoudh] reach the Salvation through Didar.

I think vocabulary is a personal matter. In my opinion there is a spark of Divinity inside everybody which is called the soul and it has the potential to grow into God by the correct usage of the aql, intellect or budhi.

The Noor is the Aql-i-kull (Universal Intellect) which transcends and informs the human intellect. The Pir who is the bearer of this Noor guides us towards the our ultimate destiny of merging into the ocean of Divinity.

The Imam is the mazhar of the ocean of Divinity and hence the Pir leads us towards the Imam.

There are many types of souls :---

Ordinary souls --- who perform ordinary deeds--the vast majority of the souls fall in this category.

Great souls -- who perform great deeds which ordinary souls cannot perform like Mahatma Gandhi--Mother Teresa--great kings of the past and the great present day leaders, etc, etc.

Pious souls -- all the saintly souls in various religions.

Souls of Founding Fathers of various Religions --- like Jesus--Prophet Mohammed.

The Supreme Soul -- who never takes birth thru' the womb of the mother--but only incarnates in a human body(called divine birth) at the end of iron age to transform this vicious world into a viceless world--He is incorporeal but revealed only thru' one immortal chariot and that is ADAM--the first man. The Supreme Soul is the only one God which all religions speak of---but He has to be revealed thru' some person to the whole world and this person is ADAM--THE FIRST MAN ---

This Article has been Pasted Here thru a very unrealiable source (don't want to mention) but it satisfies me .. and i think the answer of (difference b/w soul and the noor) is here some where in this article .. what u ppl think ?

Which Adam? The first man created was Adam, but Hazrat Adam - the one with Aql - came after the first Adam was created. Also, there have been many Adams. Our religion believes in time as cycles and not as linear.
