The value of the loans granted by Agha Khan institution's unit of small loans amounted to S.P. Million 68,8 to be distributed into 1455 loans project for upgrading healthy villages in the Syrian coastal city of Lattakia area.
"The project contains 42 village distributed among all the area in the province, in addition to 10 villages which have been selected to enter the project during 2005," Head of the Healthy Villages Department Doujanna Mohamed said Thursday. She pointed out that the project of the small loans will witness a recognizable expansion to include new areas in the province.

Overik Safe Water Project Inaugurated
CHITRAL,17 Aug 06: The Chairman of Aga Khan Planning and Building Service Pakistan (AKPBSP) Mr. Hafiz Sherali inaugurated the drinking water scheme in village Overik by cutting the plague and opening tap of water. This safe drinking water project was completed in a partnership with the beneficiary community with a total cost of Rs. 2.244 million, out of which Rs. 1.371 million was provided by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) while the rest amount of Rs. eight lack and 72 thousands was contributed by community.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman thanked PPAF for its funding to Water and Sanitation Improvement Programme (WASIP) of Aga Planning and Building Service Pakistan in order to provide rural poor people of remote areas with safe drinking water. He appreciated the people for their full participation in completing the project. He urged the community to constantly maintain the project so that people would keep getting safe water from the same source for longer period of time in future. The representatives of community thanked PPAF and AKPBSP for their interest in providing water to the poor community in rural areas of Chitral.
Among others who attended the function were: Vice Chairman, Mr. Nizar Mewawala, Board Members, Mrs, Neelofar S. Khoja, Mr. Iqbal Parvez, Mr. Farhan Mittani and Mr. Amir Mohammad of AKPBSP, members of Village Organizations and notables of the village A large number of women also participated in the opening ceremony of the project.
The project is benefiting 96 households at the height of more than 9,000 feet above sea level. The community remained involved in four feet digging of two KM long pipeline from the source to the village and 7 KM long pipeline for net working within the village.
