How can you trust people when things they say can'tbe tested

Post by faisall667 »

My question is that when people say things that one cannot really test how would trust their statement. For example: I was told that when one dies, their soul comes out of the one of the openings in the human body (how do they know that?), and it is very painful depending on which opening it comes out of (how do they know that?) Things like that is what I am asking how can people answer such things.

Faisal :?

P.S Am I making sense here?

It all depends on who says these things. If it were any Tom Dick and Harry, I would just ignore. On the other hand, if it came from the Peer than I would accept whatever they say because they know about these issues. We have trust on their authority.

Generally on such matters, I would always rely on authoritative sources until I have sufficiently elevated myself to know them by my own experience.

So if I become spritually high (which I am far away from) I can exeperience death and still come back?

Yes, I have read about many cases. As a matter of fact Paul Bruntun explains the process of dying in his book "The Wisdom of Overself" through insights of other mystics and his own experiences.

Ok this goes back to my question. I don't want to put you in a bad situation, but if I am, I am sorry, b/c I respect you.

How can you belive Paul Bruntun? How is he an authoritive figure who I can trust?

As I said that he basis his views on the experiences of other mystics and reason as well. You need to read the book and determine yourself whether he is making sense or not. His books have been best sellers , so obviously his views are respected. In my opinion, he was an enlightened person, so I can trust him. Enlightenment is not restricted to our faith only.

I only gave Paul Brunton as an example. But in our tradition we know that Pir Hassan Kabirdeen came back to life after dying.

We can read from other sources so long as what they say is also backed by our own tradition. In my opinion whatever Paul Brunton has said has been reflected in our tradition and hence I can trust him.
