Looking for any Ismaili in Karachi to discuss Ismailism

Assalam aleikum wa ya Ali madad!

I am currently in Karachi for some time - a few months, probably - and while here I would like to take advantage of the presence of such a strong community of Ismailis. I know I may be treading on sensitive ground here, so please forgive me if this is untoward.

I would like to meet an Ismaili in Karachi to discuss the Ismaili tariqah. (If someone is willing, he or she may respond in this thread or by PM.)

I hope, by this, to learn more about Ismailism and its people. I am not sure, to be honest, what direction Pakistani Ismailis have received from the Imam regarding discussion of the tariqah with non-Ismailis. I understand many Ismailis are reluctant and cautious to discuss the tariqah with outsiders, with good reason. If Pakistani Ismailis have been directed by the Imam not to discuss the tariqah with non-Ismailis in Pakistan, I will respect the Imam's directive.

I agree with kmaherali. Just as a cautionary advice:
Don't let them get you into arguments or debates. Just remember everyone's Faith or Religion may be the same but it holds an individual meaning to them.

Should I try finding some around a jamatkhana here?
Should I call ITREB?
Should I call AKUH?

I am not sure why you need to contact Pakistani Ismailis. Wouldn't you be able to get everything that you need from forums such as these?

I think ONiazi is in Karachi and I am a firm believer in the field research as long as the intent is for learning not to cause bitterness or harm.

Exactly. I'm in Karachi for some time. I've been studying about Ismailism for years now, and would like to deepen that knowledge by meeting some Ismailis. In all these years, I have not met even one Ismaili.

The written word can teach, but the spoken word is a better teacher.

The answers are contract boilerplate answers that are given. In other words, the answers are the hopes/dreams for the ideal situation but not reality. And the only way to ascertain answers is to do field work and draw your conclusions. And one think that is crucial to remember is that times do change and people do adapt to changes, be it from social pressures, Imam’s guidance, and even what gets mentioned on forums similar to these. So, even if you are doing field survey or research one must state the time period it was conducted and revisit to see how much and how quickly things do change which may cause you to rethink or reevaluate you first conclusion.
As the saying goes everything changes and one thing is constant that everything changes.
