The following statement of Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah says it all.

Spiritual progress in our Tariqah is linked to attaining closeness to the Noor of HazarImam. So when someone becomes closer to the Imam, he or she has made spiritual progress. Therefore according to MSM, by serving Him you get closer to Him and therefore you make spiritual progress.

Spiritual Progress

you can also make spiritual progress through prayers, ibadaat, seva
helping others, giving dasond.

Let us not forget that ibadaat is not the only way to make spiritual

progress.

Ya Aly Madat,
MHI in one of his irshard defined ibadaat as carrying one's faith at all times and in this respect Ibadaat is a total way of life including Dua, Dasond, Seva, Good Deeds, Acquiring knowledge & Baitul Khayal.

If it is understood in that manner than Ibadaat is the only way.
