Pak Taliban flog 17yr old girl for 'misbehaviour'

Islamabad, April 03: A 17-year-old married girl was publically whipped by the Taliban in Pakistan's restive Swat valley for allegedly having an affair, an incident which sent shock waves across the country with the rights groups slamming government for its recent peace deal with militants in the region.

The burqa-clad girl was forced to lie on the ground on her stomach and flogged publically, showed a video footage, apparently shot with a mobile phone camera, which was being aired by the Pakistani TV channels.

The grainy footage showed one militant holding her feet and another her head while a third one was seen whipping her as the girl pleaded for mercy.

The private Geo TV reported that the incident took place in Kabal area of the valley six months ago. It quoted local people as saying that the girl was punished for having illicit relations.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the girl's flogging and summoned the federal Interior Secretary and North West Frontier Province police chief to appear before him in court on April 6, officials said. The interior secretary was also asked to produce the girl, who was whipped, in court, they said.

The incident, which some other reports said took place in Matta area of Swat a few weeks ago, came to light through the disturbing video footage circulated by militants. The 2-minute video showed a large crowd of men watching the flogging.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said the girl was punished for coming out of her home with a man who was not her husband.

"There are boundaries you cannot cross," he told 'Guardian'. He also defended their thrashing of women shoppers dressed inappropriately, saying it was permitted under Islamic law.

Stating that the flogging incident was being inquired into, Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani noted that his government had initiated a strategy of reconciliation because a military solution to militancy was not feasible. The ruling PPP would take all possible steps to protect rights of women, he said.

However, the government's approval for a move to enforce Islamic law in Swat was linked to restoration of peace. "If there is peace, the President will give approval to Nizam-e- Adal (Islamic law) regulations and we expect all stakeholders to create peace and prevent such incidents," Gilani said at Garhi Khuda Baksh in Sindh, where PPP leaders gathered to mark the death anniversary of party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Former Human Rights Minister Ansar Burney condemned the whipping incident, saying it was a violation of basic human rights and Islamic ideals.

"There was no proof that this girl had stepped out of home with a man. What kind of Islam is this that a girl is flogged in this manner before so many men?" he told agencies.

The rise of the Taliban in Swat is "dangerous not only for Pakistan but for the world," said Burney, a leading human rights activist.

Interior ministry chief Rahman Malik should resign for failing to prevent such incidents and terror attacks, he said.

Samar Minallah, a Pashtun documentary maker and rights activist, said the video of the girl's flogging was widely circulated by Taliban because they "want people to see it."

In February, NWFP government and Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah Mohammadi (TNSM), a group of religious hardliners, signed a peace deal that envisages implementation of Islamic law in Swat. However, even before this, Taliban had imposed flogging and other physical punishments on residents of the area.

TNSM is led by Maulana Sufi Muhammad, the father-in-law of Taliban commander Maulana Fazlullah who controls Swat. TNSM has also set up Qazi or Islamic courts in Swat.

The Taliban had earlier beaten up women for shopping unaccompanied by men in the market in Mingora, the main city in Swat. The militants had also blown up or torched nearly 200 girls' schools in the valley that was once a popular tourist destination.

Dear respected readers! I think we must not and should not touch with this highly critical issue. What we can do is "only watch, wait and see" what is going on in this God-gifted country. You have noticed that no one is ready to sit with us, talk to us, play with us and people say that all these Pakistanis are terrorists, because of some of these ill-mannered attitude of these gumrah people. We have forgotton the sacrifices of our forefathers, our founder of Pakistan and the services of our late Imam (Sultan Muhammad Shah) who begged for donations for the newly achieved country, we had no paper and pen at that time. We can cite the example of China and India, where these countries are standing at and were we are.

Brother GMR,
Why should we do not need to touch such critical issue which happen in Pakistan? if such kind critical issue happened in India or anywhere else then guess what? it would have big gossip all over the world.( I respect the sacrifice of our late Imam Sultan Mohammed shah did for seperation but that was different Pakistan in his vision than this current Paksitan, Our Imam wanted to make Arabic as a mother toungh in Pakitan and many more things he wanted but.....) but I do not have any respect with the leaders of Pakistan during the partition time, they just did seperation just for their own prejudice and own ego eventhough Mr. Zinnah knew that it will be very hard for the Pakistan to survive, he was also warned by world and Indian leaders and British Governer at that time and advised him not to seperate from India but he did any way, read the stigmatized history books regarding India/Pakistan partition written by any authors (no Pakistani authors please, except Hasan Sadat Manto) and you will be surprised that how many innocent peoples were killed from both countries, specially during the migration, who was the responsible party for that destruction? whom do we balme for that killing of innocence peoples? and now whom will we balme for incident just happened in Swat Valley and the incidents just happend few days ago in Lahor? whom do you blame the massacre happens in Mosque every other day in Pakistan? why Shia and Sunni still fights in great country! Pakistan? Whom do we blame for the shameless terrorist attack just happened in Taj Hotel in Mumbai? Brother GMR, I do not have anything against you this is for all Ismaili. net readers. neither I live in Pakistan nor in India and I do not write this to favor India or any other country, but I just write this as a world peace lover. By the way one terrorist attack just happened yesterday in New York and Talibans are responsible for this attack as per the the Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah mehshud, but TV analyst does not belive this yet.

First of all Islam does not teach us to beat our own Muslims or punish them like that. To me that is not even Islam who is punishing someone like an animals. Second of all, these Taliban terrorist and other strict Muslim are not following the Shariah of Islam 100% themselves so why punish others. I mean look at their own sins and action. Why don't these people correct themselves before punishing someone else. These people, they themselves don't do any good things and tells other to do good, but it doesn't make any scene. Their own sins are higher than a higher mountain and preparing themselves for hell by murdering, judging or punishing etc others innocent people. These people are making fool of themselves and others. They all are uneducated people and gave Islam such a bad name by doing all these negative things. They do not follow Islam 100% themselves so why hurt others. Islam means peace and Love. Islam is the perfection of all other religions that is why the Holy prophet Mohammad(Peace be upon him and his descending) was the seal of the prophet and after him the Holy Imammat started.

No, it does not. Also, that is not even Shariah which these strict Talabians are following. In real Shariah to punish a girl for her mistakes or sins whatever is to just scare her or warn her or advice her to not to do that mistakes again. In other hand, it is none of our business to punish people or judge people that since Allah(as) test us everyday; furthermore, in holy Quran said that every human is responsible for their own soul, so we should understand that. We have no authorizes to judge someone or punish them, only the Creator has the authorize. I believe that, this is not real Shariah which these strict people are following and giving these innocent people such hard time to enjoy their life, I mean in in positive way like with educations. These people do not threat others like their own brothers, for example they says that women are not equal as man. But that is wrong. What is the different between your both legs? aren't they equal? So, at the same time men and women are equal, they only different is that they have different type of bodies but that is nothing.

I Thank to Allah for His Beloved[Hazar Imam] is always present in this secular earth for one of the best guidance ever in the face of the world which lead us to the ultimate truth and Enlightenment. Allah Akbar....

Here I have found these Videos of Talibans on [Youtube] who are beating these innocent women for no reason. May God protect them all. Amen

3:159 It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (their faults), and ask for (Allah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast taken a decision put thy trust in Allah. For Allah LOVEs those who put their trust (in Him).

UnGodly and satanic Media Source is not my God . God of Abraham,Isaac and Jacob is only and final standard of morality which is unchanging and holds for all man.

Aaron was appointed directly by God to be the first high priest. He and his sons were consecrated to continue the priesthood through time (Leviticus 8 and 9).

Leviticus 8

The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons

1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering, the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast, 3 and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting." 4 Moses did as the LORD commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

5 Moses said to the assembly, "This is what the LORD has commanded to be done." 6 Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water. 7 He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also tied the ephod to him by its skillfully woven waistband; so it was fastened on him. 8 He placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece. 9 Then he placed the turban on Aaron's head and set the gold plate, the sacred diadem, on the front of it, as the LORD commanded Moses.

10 Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them. 11 He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them. 12 He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to consecrate him. 13 Then he brought Aaron's sons forward, put tunics on them, tied sashes around them and put headbands on them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

14 He then presented the bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 15 Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood, and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar to purify the altar. He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it. 16 Moses also took all the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, and both kidneys and their fat, and burned it on the altar. 17 But the bull with its hide and its flesh and its offal he burned up outside the camp, as the LORD commanded Moses.

18 He then presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 19 Then Moses slaughtered the ram and sprinkled the blood against the altar on all sides. 20 He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces and the fat. 21 He washed the inner parts and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar as a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire, as the LORD commanded Moses.

22 He then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 23 Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. 24 Moses also brought Aaron's sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Then he sprinkled blood against the altar on all sides. 25 He took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, both kidneys and their fat and the right thigh. 26 Then from the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the LORD, he took a cake of bread, and one made with oil, and a wafer; he put these on the fat portions and on the right thigh. 27 He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and waved them before the LORD as a wave offering. 28 Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering as an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire. 29 He also took the breast—Moses' share of the ordination ram—and waved it before the LORD as a wave offering, as the LORD commanded Moses.

30 Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.

31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, "Cook the meat at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I commanded, saying, [a] 'Aaron and his sons are to eat it.' 32 Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread. 33 Do not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days. 34 What has been done today was commanded by the LORD to make atonement for you. 35 You must stay at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and do what the LORD requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded." 36 So Aaron and his sons did everything the LORD commanded through Moses.

leviticus 9- 22 Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down.

leviticus 9- 23 Moses and Aaron then went into the Tent of Meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.

______________

leviticus 10 - 8 Then the LORD said to Aaron, 9 "You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. 10 You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean, 11 and you must teach the Israelites all the decrees the LORD has given them through Moses."

leviticus 10 - 12 Moses said to Aaron and his remaining sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, "Take the grain offering left over from the offerings made to the LORD by fire and eat it prepared without yeast beside the altar, for it is most holy. 13 Eat it in a holy place, because it is your share and your sons' share of the offerings made to the LORD by fire; for so I have been commanded. 14 But you and your sons and your daughters may eat the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. Eat them in a ceremonially clean place; they have been given to you and your children as your share of the Israelites' fellowship offerings. 15 The thigh that was presented and the breast that was waved must be brought with the fat portions of the offerings made by fire, to be waved before the LORD as a wave offering. This will be the regular share for you and your children, as the LORD has commanded."

The badmouthing has got to stop.

Post by samirnoorali »

Dear hngama25:

I personally feel that you’re disturbed. This is not your fault, but perhaps due to your lack of information at critical points in your life. You have to realize that it is time to stop talking about matters which are 2000 years in the past. If you want to follow Jesus Christ then more power to you. Go and part ways. In your life you have to make a decision – either you’re in or not. Some say Karim is God, some say he isn’t. Some say Jesus is God, yet some say he isn’t. So, everybody has the right to choose their destiny. The reason why you’re posting on and on is because you’re sincerely in doubt of your faith. For if your faith was complete then you would pack your bags of words and move on.

Coming back to this site and badmouthing other people is simply wrong. And what is even more painful is that you’re degrading the name of your parents. They are not even my parents, but I feel a deep sense of respect for them for sticking to their faith. If they taught you that Karim is Allah then it was up to you to ask them. If they didn't provide you with the answers then seek. If you found Jesus to be your God, then nobody is stopping you. That is your faith. But to hurt people on this site means that out of the 100% of your heart, 1% is still in doubt.

Deep down inside you’ve never seen Jesus Christ, am I right? You’ve never met him, never touched his hand, never conversed with him. Yet you profess he’s your God. So be it. Even then nobody has the right to say otherwise. But you have not criticized other faiths, neither Budhism, nor Hinduism, but you stick to hurting Ismailis. Tell me, is that right?

In my faith, I find Hazer Imam to be Allah himself. That is my view, not yours. In your faith you believe Jesus is God, and that is your faith. Now it is time for you to part from hurting the dignity of the Aga Khan. You talk about Christians not looking into the past, then do the right thing and move on yourself. Set the example and move on. I think that you’re hurt inside and that is burning at your conscience every waking day. When you were asking for answers you never got it. I feel for you, because it is not your fault. You got answers that didn’t jive with your thinking. This led you to adopt Christianity.

I hope that one day you come to realize that the Christ whom you’ve adopted as your saviour is the Aga Khan himself. Ironic isn’t it. Well, that’s my interpretation, not yours.
Pray and recite the name of Christ. It is a good thing for you. I’m sure Christ would have wanted you to make peace, am I right? If you really want to understand Christ then read your bible and uplift yourself. Keep it to yourself. If you want to talk to me then let’s talk. I don’t believe you’re a bad person, but I strongly believe that you’re spending too much time hating and too little time praying.

Hazar Imam is a person who has done nothing to you, nor your family. He is a nice person, a kind person. It is people like myself and other’s on this board who acknowledge him as Allah to whom your questions should be directed, not the Aga Khan. Ask me and you’ll understand far better than you ever have. But if you ask a person who doesn’t understand the faith then you’ll lose faith yourself. A blind person cannot describe to another blind person what the sun looks like. I’m not saying you’re blind, but the point is that you’ve been deprived of information.

There are some very intelligent people on this site, the Admin including. The reason I’m saying this is that if you’ve noticed the Admin has no advertising. The site has been up for years out of the Admin’s personal love of the Imam and the constant updates for Ismailis. There is knowledge on this site. Search, stop hating. I implore you to become an Ismaili once again under a more clear and concise understanding of the Imam. If you feel it’s too late, don’t worry. It’s never too late to understand.

Talk to us and we’ll help you. If you don’t want our help then peacefully be on your way.
