Baiyat of new born - Non-Ismaili
Baiyat of new born - Non-Ismaili
Does it have to be the Mother of a new born who performs the Baiyat in front of the Mukhi Saheb? What if the Mother is non-ismaili - who can then perform the baiyat? Can the Father (who is Ismaili) or any other female do it?

Please reply!

Thanks!
Sereya is right. You can also bring your wife with you for the service and you can prearrange for the service with the mukhi for before JK. Also, you may have to have a letter signed by your wife agreeing for the service. It is a standard boilerplate letter nothing to worry about.sereya wrote:yam, the father can perform the ceremony as well.i was not an ismaili when my daughter
was born and her dad took her to mosque.hope this helps

I never understood Baiyat. What does it mean in religious context?id786 wrote:Does it have to be the Mother of a new born who performs the Baiyat in front of the Mukhi Saheb? Re: Baiyat of new born - Non-Ismaili
Baiyat is the official declaration of allegiance to the Imam of the Time. Without having gone through the process of Baiyat, a person cannot call themselves an Ismaili. Those of us who are born Ismailis, have our Baiyat performed by our parents weeks after we're born. A person can then re-affirm his/her Baiyat as an adult but is not required to do so. Hope this helps!Anhilee wrote:I never understood Baiyat.
