Recently someone posted saying that the Noorum-Mubeen was filled with mistakes and false predictions. He also said that he spoke to the compiler of this holy text who confirmed to him that this indeed was the case which was why the book had been pulled off the shelf. I just want to know if anyone knows whether this is true? I can't seem to stop thinking about it. Why would Mowlana Sultan Moh'd shah tell us to read the Noorum Mubeen if it was not true. He also said that there were so many predictions in this book that never came true.
I don't know why this is bothering me so much, but it has caused immense disquiet within me. Does this mean that my Iman is not strong?
I have noticed that everytime I come across this type of contradictory information there seems to be some kind of mental upheaval in my mind almost like there is no equilibrum, which eventually settles down, but during those times - and this is one of them- I find myself questioning and analysing everything, although not in the positive sense.
Noorum-Mubeen
What is in the minutes of the Paris Conference [Ismailia Association 1975] is that Nurum Mubeen be not considered as the standard text on Ismaili history since at that time already under the guidance of the Imam so much more information had come to light with discovery of more Ismaili texts and translations by people like Ivanow and Corbin.
There is nothing about banning Nurum Mubeen.
As time goes, more info comes to light, this info is very positive on ismailism and Ismaili history and therefore has to be incorporated to new history books.

Dear Prince of Peace or should I say darkness, Someone once said....."A wiseman thinks and then speaks, whilst a fool speaks and then thinks" which are you?
Anyway if I was expecting an answer from a christian perspective I would have posted it on a christian forum, the fact that I am posting it in an ismaili forum speaks for itself that I am seeking an ismaili viewpoint on my questions.
You obviously have a right to your own views, but your barking is becoming a bit cumbersome.
You also keep on harping about Sultan Moh'd Shah's predictions being wrong, but you don't site any bar one. You were trying to cause mischief in a person's mind and heart well you have suceeded, now what?
What do you want me to say that's it I'm finished with ismailism? I want to become a christian? You were not happy with ismailism you chose christianity, I may have doubts but I still choose ismailism.
Did you know that Mother Teresa whilst working in the slums of Calcutta also experienced serious misgivings about the existence of god.....
Anyway I hope you find what you are looking for, because what is certein is that you are not truly happy in christ, for your words cry of someone who is so bitter they cannot taste the honey.

Poor old Prince of Peace
Ya Ali Madad
funguy2007 is spot on. If 'Prince of Peace' has serious misgivings about Hazar Imam, then I'm sure he'll have even greater misgivings about his new adopted faith when he starts to investigate and research the foundational figures of Christainity such as the Roman pagan emperor, Constantine.
If he is disappointed with Ismailism, for whatever reason, then he'll be even more disappointed with his new adopted faith when he starts to conduct his research. Nevertheless, we all wish him good luck and hope he finds spiritual peace and happiness, inshallah.

Is there any history book perfect? There are many contradictions in history and so I dont think any history book can be called as perfect.
There are some mistakes in history books published by IIS also. I have read Noorum Mubin and its very informative and interesting book but I noticed there are some mistakes in it too.
I think may be Imam had recommended that book because at that time there were not any other books with such comprehensive history of Ismailism. Now there are many history books. But still Noorum Mubin is good history book and is not banned.

Someone said History repeats and I think it’s repeating now, In every age Prophets explain law and made follows believe what they were suppose to belief to improve the internal and external lives depending on the followers capacity and level of understanding, some followers of Preceding Prophet didn’t follow succeeding Prophet on the bases of logical explanation given by Preceding Prophet! This has been repeating…! I think people belief is based on explanation not on faith itself…!
I completely agree with munir on why ISMS might have recommended Noorum Mubin, I didn’t read it but even if I read it will not change my understanding of Faith because I read it keeping this point in my mind that this book has targeted audience, when I read Gita I do keep in mind that it was written for whom n at what stage, and what was the level of ppl at that time so it become easy to understand…!
I believe that we are separated from our roots and we are supposed to return back! If Allah is standing 100km from us we need to follow a path to get close to Allah and for the we need a believe or law, if we believe and follow it we may reach a level (like we can travel 10km with this believe or law) and from 90km we get a new believe and if we follow it we may reach another level (like we can travel future 10km with new believe) and it goes on until we reach our destination….. In each stage law changes, what may be halal in one stage may become haram in other stage…. Islam mean submission, total submission is required to understand Imam’s words or Allah!

One more thing to add. Funguy had written "Recently someone posted saying that the Noorum-Mubeen was filled with mistakes and false predictions. He also said that he spoke to the compiler of this holy text who confirmed to him that this indeed was the case which was why the book had been pulled off the shelf"
The author of this book, Ali Mohammad Chunara was died in Karachi on April 7, 1966. Imam had sent following message after his death :
"I send my best paternal maternal loving blessings for the soul of late Vazir Chunara, and I pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace. Late Vazir Chunara's devoted services to my jamats of Bombay and Karachi will always be remembered by all. He was an example and a pillar of strength for so many years of fruitful service. I give my best paternal maternal loving blessings to all the members of late Vazir Chunara's family for courage and fortitude in their great loss. I am sure that they will continue in the footsteps of the late Vazir, and that they will find great happiness and satisfaction in doing so."
So it is obvious that the person who wrote that he has met him in Europe etc was himself saying lie.

The person who said that Noorum Mubin is banned because of mistakes in it, is spreading rumours. He is such shameless person that inspite of every time he is banned he comes again and again here beating drum of his imaginary god which will grant salvation only to him.
He is saying to contact vazir Chunara, though he is not alive. Better not to believe a single word to him.

want to incite a fight between us and the Christians. Sometimes, all it takes
is one irresponsible statement. True Christians, immersed in their love of
God and Prophet Jesus will not be hurting others like this.
