Does any one know whether the preaching of Ismailism among the Non-Ismaili population is still continuing in this presnet age of ours?
If not, then why has it stopped or currently discontinued?
On the other hand, if it is still continuing, whether openly or secretly, then why is it that we never get to hear about it or are aware of it, and why is it that services ( either voluntary or non-voluntar)are not solicited from the jamati members.
I do understand that with regards to tareeqa matters, MHI holds the ultimate authority and say and I whole heartedly approve and accept.
Your input with regards to questions above will ge greatly appreciated.

It seems this is different from country to country, due to educational levels of the local Ismailis and due to the prejudice by the Salafists (Wahhabis). In the USA, there are no dawa activities now that I know of - would someone please post if there are? I was surprised to learn that in the USA, Ismailis are only given the Holy Du'a prayer in English and a translitation of the Arabic text, but they are not encouraged to learn Modern Standard or Classical Arabic. I assume this is because the US tariqa board is afraid that American Ismailis might become targets of Salafist conversion if they learn how to read the Qoran. How sad.
In Canada there are some dawa activities - the dais are called 'waez" or something like that. One is author/motivational speaker Azim Jamal. Posts on the cybermurid forum listed him as officially registered with the Canadian tariqa board to practice dawa.

No one dictates to an Ismaili what to read and what not to, both in the matter of secular education and relegious education.
The Ismailis are the most intellectual, rational , tolerant and independent thinking of all the muslim sects. Every Ismaili has the freedom to accquire any kind of knowledge including the study of Modern Standard or Classical Arabic. A practicing Ismaili today is an Ismaili by choice and not by compulsion. If any Ismaili is not satisified with his religion, then he or she has all the freedom in this world to leave this relegion or persue any other relegion or beleif of their choice.
An assumtion that any Ismaili Tareeqa Board is afraid that Ismailis might become targets of Salafist conversion if they learn how to read the Qoran is based totally on ignorance and mis-information.
One should get the facts straight before jumping to such conclusions and judgements. On the contrary the radical and fundamental Islamist are afraid that allowing their general muslim population or followers the freedom to accquire secular education and a broad-based relegious education, and most of all the freedom to make their own choices and think for theselves would infact lead to a significant exedous of their followers to other religious interprations and faiths.
As for Azim Jamal of Canada, as far as my knowledge goes, he is just a motivational speaker and not a preacher of either Ismailism or for that matter any particular relegion. His motivational speeches which are secular in content are addressed to the general Canadian population both Ismailis and Non-Ismailis.

I hope and pray that the Hazir Imam will permit active dawah in other countries, and I hope and pray that Ismailis will be filled with zeal to spread the message of Islam to non-Muslims, and the message of higher truths of Islam to non-Ismaili Muslims.
In America, the ultraconservative faction (known, whether correctly or incorrectly I do not know, as Wahhabis, Salafis, Deobandis, etc.) has a major hold. I have personally seen lukewarm Muslims become close to fanatic. A liberal form of Islam would threaten the monolithic image ultraconservatives wish to portray, and would also bring strong condemnation against what they would see as a competitor. However, if Americans saw and became acquainted with Ismailism, they would have a greater respect for Islam (not to mention the many, many Westernized Muslims who would flock to Ismailism due to its keeping with the times and keeping faithful to the fundamentals of Islam).
It is my understanding that in most places in the world, dawah is not permitted. As a matter of fact, I think it is downright forbidden in areas such as Pakistan. (I once got kicked out of an Ismaili mIRC channel because I was asking questions about Ismailism. The members were all Pakistani. A moderator informed me that Ismailis are forbidden to speak about the religion to outsiders, and so my questions offended them.)
Of course, as another Ismaili said, the jamaat has enough challenges keeping and teaching what Ismailis they have, let alone preparing for an influx of converts.
